    Frank is a creative thinker who has the gift of being able to make highly complex topics and processes comprehensible in a way that everyone can understand. In this way, he brings people with a broad range of expertise together, which lead to innovative and visionary projects. Over the past 15 years, Frank’s Internet career has allowed him to work with some of the leading brands of the industry, which he continues to do to this day. He was in charge of the Bing search engine at Microsoft in Germany and continued to work as a freelance consultant for the company after he left in 2011 to build a Start-Up. Prior to that he successfully helped build and later managed Yahoo!’s local search and maps product. He also was co-responsible for product strategy and product development of Yahoo! Answers worldwide. After rejoining Microsoft, he now shares his experience and knowledge in his role as OSS Evangelist where he is charged to drive increased awareness of the Microsoft consumer experience and help increased platform and tool adoption for Microsoft’s operating system and services portfolio.

    Monica M. Kirchner is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dot Luxury (.Luxury), a new internet generic top level domain which is being launched in 2014. .Luxury is a dedicated digital platform for all things luxury–providing product manufacturers, service providers, retailers and consumers a central place to engage, transact and celebrate a luxury-oriented lifestyle.

    A talented, driven and dynamic executive with previous start up experience and a strong legal and business background, Kirchner co-founded Luminare Labs–a start up focused on launching a cutting edge market research tool based on neuroscience and fMRI brain imaging. Previously, she also served as the executive responsible for managing the West Coast and Canadian regions for Lehman Brothers investment banking division and was a corporate securities and transactional attorney at Jones Day, one of the world’s leading law firms.

    Kirchner has extensive experience managing strategy, operations and building teams to deliver successful outcomes. A thoughtful, down-to-earth and creative producer, she is known for bringing energy and a passionate commitment to success in every leadership role.

    Ingrid Baele, a Belgian national, joined Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, The Netherlands in 1987. She has a background in physics from the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

    In 1990 she joined Philips Intellectual Property & Standards (IP&S) as IP Counsel. She became member of the IP&S Management Team in 1999. In her current position Ingrid heads IP&S Operations and Country Management where she is responsible for the business infrastructure & operations and the IP&S offices of the worldwide Philips IP&S organization that handles all IP related matters for Philips.

    She managed organization wide projects such as the new gTLD applications (.philips in Latin and Chinese script), the introduction of a new IP management system and the set-up of a new IP&S office in Chengdu, a city in the West of China.

    She is member of the leadership team of the ICC IP Commission and board member of two institutes for IP education.

    Philip Sheppard is Director General the Brand Registry Group, a trade association for owners of a top-level domain name that matches their that matches their brand, a product or service. www.brandregistrygroup.org Philip is also Managing Partner of Zaparazzi sprl, a public affairs consultancy based in Brussels. www.zaparazzi.com Zaparazzi specialises in domain name policy, intellectual property rights and government affairs. Another part of the consultancy focuses on arts development, coaching and meeting facilitation.

    Philip previously worked in Shell (1980-90) in London and Ireland before finishing as their petrochemicals marketing manager Middle East based in Dubai. He then worked as a consultant for Ernst & Young in Switzerland. More recently he was Public Affairs Manager for the European Brands Association – AIM, based in Brussels.

    Peter has operated in the domain and web service space since the late 1990s. He was President of a $20 million Web services, domain registrar and Fortune1000 entity. He drove a value proposition transformation introducing new online marketing services and integrated the business into a major US brand. In addition to previous VP roles at technology firms, Peter operated a management consulting firm for a decade, working with CEOs to bring web and communication services to new markets. Peter became an expert in the gTLD program through his work completing the application and business plan for .CLUB.  Recognizing the tremendous innovation opportunities for brands in owning their own .Brand name space, Peter founded Authentic Web where he and his team are building technologies specifically designed to leverage proprietary .Brand registry capabilities. Peter rides his bicycle a lot.

    Roland LaPlante is the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Afilias. Mr. LaPlante directed the launch of .INFO in 2001, the first — and most successful — New gTLD ever launched. An accomplished marketer, Mr. LaPlante oversaw the successful applications for and launches of six new Top Level Domains (TLDs) and has supported the growth of nine ccTLDs on behalf of Afilias.

    Mr. LaPlante’s 30-year career in marketing includes both consumer and B2B experience. He has held senior marketing positions at McGraw-Hill, Providian Corporation, Citibank, Heublein, and Procter and Gamble. Before joining Afilias, he was Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Xlibris, an Internet publishing company based in Philadelphia.

    Mr. LaPlante holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
