Katie is currently the Director of Scientific Communications and Medical Affairs at Heron Therapeutics.  Katie received her PharmD from Auburn University in 2003 and completed a PGY 1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and PGY 2 Internal Medicine Specialty Residency at Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA.  After practicing clinical pharmacy, Katie joined the pharmaceutical industry where she has been practicing for 15 years at companies including Cubist, Merck, Tetraphase, and Achaogen.  Major areas of interest include perioperative care, infectious diseases, critical care, and medical writing/data strategy.  Katie has been at Heron Therapeutics for over 3 years and she is responsible for publication strategy/execution and scientific content development.  Katie resides in Atlanta with her husband and two children, and is lucky to work virtually on a daily basis alongside her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs.
