I’m sure you’re spending a tremendous amount of time thinking about how you can successfully virtualize your firm’s next retreat, client summit or recruitment event, so I wanted to share 3 things with you that we’ve learned over the past few years of producing virtual conferences.

#1 Lighting matters!

All too often virtual event speakers are focused on their audio connection and while those two things are really important, it is easy to forget the impact that solid lighting can have on a webcam. You don’t need to invest in expensive lighting – almost any LED lamp could make a big difference. Just look at Jason Kelley General  Manager, IBM Blockchain Services who we had the pleasure of working with back in July.

#2 Background matters!

Depending on your virtual platform, you might be able to select a number of stock or custom background images and while some of them do present well, we have found greater audience engagement with a naturally, “smart” setting. Everyone knows that today’s virtual event presenter is likely working from home, so we  recommend selecting a room that showcases simplicity – just look at Randy Cook, Senior Managing Director • Ankura Consulting Group who Chaired.

#3 Stingers, lower-thirds and cover images need to be consistent!

When developing your video production assets, it’s important to not forget about brand consistency. We know production on virtual events can move fast and it’s easy to overlook the small details, but make sure someone on your team is in charge of continuity so         every image, stinger and lower third is consistent with your brand expectations. Below is a snapshot of an event cover image and stinger that Momentum developed for EY’s Annual Americas Mining and Metals Forum.
